As humans, the pursuit of change and progress is something that is innate to every one of us. Like it or not, there will always be things in life that we hope could be a little different, a little better in the way that daily situations & events turn out. It could be in the way we think, speak, or the way we handle everything from our finances to our relationships with others. We seek to become better -- and we should. As we strive to continuously exceed our potential, we rise above all previous versions of ourselves and grow stronger. In this issue, we look at some ways in which we can embrace a better self and an even better future.

The Relentless Pursuit of Improvement

It is no secret that I believe growth is the only guarantee that tomorrow will be better. It is no mystery that I think personal growth is the steppingstone to success for any leader. If you or I want to stay in front of the curve and lead others, then we must do the work that keeps us out front. We must continually improve. But as I seek to improve, there is one thing I know not to chase, and that is perfection. Perfection is a trap. Do not chase perfection as a leader - chase improvement. Make today better than yesterday so tomorrow can be better than today. The relentless pursuit of improvement will take any leader far.

Envy. It is an emotion that we all feel at some point. It is also a really dangerous emotion when we are trying to build a strong financial life. Envy is pure poison to a healthy financial life. After all, envy encourages us to make some pretty poor decisions. Like every other character flaw, however, envy can be overcome. You can directly reduce the envy itself, or you can at least reduce the bad choices you make as a result of envy. Here are seven strategies I use to cut envy out of my own life.

Dr Claris Shi. Ministry of Health

I usually shy away from Financial Consultants but Ruth was so friendly and genuine, and didn’t laugh at my lack of financial planning knowledge! She took time to go through all my policies and identified areas where I needed coverage. She definitely goes above and beyond her call of duty and is so easy to talk to when I have any questions.

I am very lucky to have come across a consultant like Ruth. She has been very professional, reliable and has proven to be very trustworthy in our dealings. She also happens to possess a fantastic sense of humor (which of course, I appreciate tremendously). But in all seriousness, Ruth is very dependable and always has my back, despite the hour of the day. She has proven this on more than just one occasion. I would recommend Ruth highly as I do not know of a more professional consultant amongst those that work with my peers.

Chong Yuen Li. Project Manager

I always choose my financial consultant based on who is more trustworthy and chose them from among my close friends. But Ruth is different I do not know her prior meetup but found her online through FB. First meetup my impression of her was very good. She makes me feel comfortable to share with her why I want to buy medical insurance. Although she looks young (most of my agents are older than me) but she gave me impression she is a capable young mother whom I can trust. She is very efficient and knowledgeable and after just one appointment, I know I can trust her with my insurance plan. When I was admitted to hospital last Dec. She was quick to help me submit claims for my hospitalisation bills. I will not hesitate to recommend her to my family and close friends.

Mabel Sim. Undergraduate

I can trust Ruth’s financial advice as she knows what’s best for me and as an undergraduate, I bought my first policy from her and it’s best suited for my current needs! She adds a personal touch and is very approachable and patient when dealing with me, that’s why I know who to look for the next time I wish to purchase another policy. 😊

Lisa

Ruth has been my consultant for years now. Although I met her by chance, I am happy for that! I feel that she genuinely cares about and wants to make a real connection with her client. She would listen to my concerns before trying to provide a solution. She is patient in explaining and finding middle ground between minimising my future risk and ensuring my comfort and confidence on the plan. I also appreciate that she gives her client enough space and time to think and consider about the financial plan throughout the process. Thanks Ruth!

Mei Ying & Terence

We met Ruth to review the multitude of insurance policies that we already had. Having bought them some time ago, we were unsure of our existing coverage and wanted to know if they were adequate and how we could make plans for our growing family. Ruth explains our policies in a way that was so easy to understand and recommended us policies that catered to our specific needs. She has also been really approachable and prompt in responding to any questions - important qualities anyone would want in an financial consultant! We have nothing but compliments for her and would highly recommend her to friends and family!
